The Self-Assessment
Score your own teach on ten lines, with what a five looks like on each.
Score yourself right after the game, while it is fresh. 1 means you skipped it, 3 means you did it but it wobbled, 5 means it looked like the description. Be honest: the score is for you.
| Line | What a five looks like | Score |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Hook | You opened with the theme in one sentence: who they are and what they want, in under twenty seconds. | |
| 2. Goal | You said how the game ends and how to win before any other rule. | |
| 3. Turn demo | You showed one turn with real pieces, saying "you," not "a player." | |
| 4. Gotcha | You named the one surprising rule up front, and again when it first came up. | |
| 5. Holding back | No rare rule came before it mattered, and nothing was read aloud from the rulebook. | |
| 6. Pace | The first move came less than five minutes after everyone sat down. | |
| 7. Checks | You asked "What questions do you have?" and waited for the answer. | |
| 8. Open round | The first round was played with open hands or as a practice round. | |
| 9. Blowout control | The newcomer was in the game to the end, and the final scores were close enough to feel fair. | |
| 10. Close | You asked a debrief question and proposed the next game before anyone stood up. | |
