Teach One Piece Card Game in ten minutes

2 players · Varies; store events allow 35 minutes a game

The goal: Attack the opposing Leader until it takes damage when its player has no Life cards left.

One player's side of the One Piece Card Game play area, laid out like the official playsheet: a row of five Character slots across the top, the face-down Life cards on the left, the Leader in the middle row with the Stage and the deck beside it, the 10-card DON!! deck at the bottom left, the cost area for DON!! along the bottom, and the trash at the bottom right.

On your turn

  1. Refresh: given DON!! return to your cost area; stand every card up.
  2. Draw 1 card. The first player skips this on turn one.
  3. DON!!: add 2 to your cost area. The first player adds 1 on turn one.
  4. Main: play cards, use effects, give DON!!, and attack, in any order.
  5. End: resolve end of turn effects, then pass the turn.

Three tips for your first game

  1. No battles on either player's first turn, and new Characters wait a turn to attack.
  2. Save Counter cards in hand as your Life runs low.
  3. A rested Character can be attacked, so think before you swing with it.

Setup

  1. Each player: Leader face up, 50-card deck shuffled, 10 DON!! cards in a stack.
  2. Rock-paper-scissors. The winner chooses to go first or second.
  3. Draw 5. Each player may redraw once; the first player decides first.
  4. Put cards equal to your Leader's Life face down as your Life cards.

Scoring

  • Attack: rest your Leader or a Character. Target their Leader or a rested Character.
  • The defender may use one Blocker, then play Counters from hand.
  • Attacker's power equal to or higher than the target's wins.
  • Leader hit: the top Life card goes to hand, or its Trigger is used.
  • Character hit: it is K.O.'d and goes to the trash.
  • Each given DON!! adds 1000 power, on your own turn only.

Game end: A player loses when their Leader takes damage with 0 Life cards left, or when their deck has 0 cards.
