Questions

How do you win The Night Cage?

Every Prisoner must collect a Key, then all of you must gather on the same Gate tile at the same time, each holding a Key. Gate tiles are the only tiles that can hold more than one Prisoner.

How do you lose The Night Cage?

You lose if all four Gate tiles are lost, if the Prisoners cannot each collect a Key, or if the darkness cuts someone off before everyone reaches a Gate with their Key. A Prisoner who is falling with no tiles left to land on also ends the game in a loss.

How many players can play The Night Cage?

One to five. There are always four Prisoners in a 1 to 4 player game: one player runs all four, two players run two each, and three players share the fourth. A five-player game uses five Prisoners and the 7x7 side of the board.

What happens when you go Lights Out in The Night Cage?

Your candle goes out. You only see the tile you stand on, you must Move every turn unless you spend a Nerve to Stay, and you draw a tile only for the space you move into. You are relit as soon as you are next to a lit Prisoner through a connected Passage.

What is Nerve in The Night Cage?

Nerve is a token you can spend to bend the rules: Move Again, Stay while Lights Out, Block an attack to discard 2 tiles instead of 3, Charge onto a Monster, or Sustain during Final Flickers. You start with one, gain one each time you Stay, and can hold two.

What is Final Flickers in The Night Cage?

The endgame. It starts at the end of the turn in which the last tile is drawn from the Draw Stack. No new tiles come in, and after every Prisoner's turn you must also remove one more lit tile from anywhere on the board unless that Prisoner spends Nerve to Sustain.
