The Teach Library

Finished one-page teach sheets for popular gateway games, ready to print.

Each sheet holds a whole teach on one printed page: how you win, setup, a turn, scoring, how the game ends, and three tips. Read it before your guests arrive, then keep it on the table, face up, for questions.

Start with these ten

Gateway games most people can learn in five minutes.

  • Ticket to Ride

Score the most points by claiming routes, completing your tickets, and building the longest path.

  • Codenames

Be the first team to find all of your agents, and never touch the assassin.

  • Azul

Score the most points by moving tiles to your wall, where tiles that touch score more.

  • Carcassonne

Score the most points by claiming roads, cities, monasteries, and fields as the map grows.

  • Wingspan

Score the most points by attracting birds to three habitats and building an engine that grows every round.

  • Pandemic

Work as one team to discover cures for all four diseases before the world runs out of time.

  • Splendor

Score the most prestige points by buying development cards and attracting nobles; reaching 15 starts the end.

  • King of Tokyo

Be the first Monster to reach 20 Victory Points, or be the last Monster standing.

  • Cascadia

Score the most points by arranging wildlife in the patterns on the scoring cards and growing big habitat corridors.

  • Flip 7

Have the most points when someone reaches 200, by flipping cards each round and stopping before a number repeats.

More board games

For newcomers who have played a few games already.

  • Sushi Go!

Have the most points after three rounds by picking cards that score together.

  • Kingdomino

Have the most prestige points after building a 5 by 5 kingdom of connected dominoes.

  • The Crew

Complete the mission together: each player wins the tricks holding the cards on their own task cards.

  • Sky Team

Land the plane together in round 7: traffic cleared, gear and flaps down, wings level, and speed under the brakes.

  • The Night Cage

Everyone collects a Key, then all Prisoners gather on one Gate tile together to escape.

  • Heat: Pedal to the Metal

Be the first car across the finish line after the laps shown on the board.

  • 7 Wonders and 7 Wonders Duel

7 Wonders: most points after three Ages. Duel: win early by military or science, or on points.

  • Everdell

Build the city worth the most points, up to 15 cards, by the end of autumn.

  • Terraforming Mars

Have the most victory points when Mars is terraformed: from TR, tiles, cards, milestones, and awards.

  • Dinosaur Island

Have the most VPs after final scoring: patrons, attractions, exhibits, objectives, and money.

  • Dune: Imperium and Dune: Imperium Uprising

Earn Victory Points through Conflicts, Influence, and Alliances; the game ends at the end of the round someone reaches 10.

  • Ark Nova

Build the best zoo: raise appeal and conservation until your two counters cross, then score the most points.

  • Root

Be the first to 30 victory points, with each faction scoring its own way, or win with an activated dominance card.

  • Brass: Birmingham

Score the most VPs over two eras from your flipped industry tiles and the link icons your links touch.

  • Spirit Island

Work together to drive the Invaders off the Island before Blight, a lost Spirit, or time beats you.

  • Dominion

Build a better deck as you play, then use it to collect the most victory points by the end.

  • Lost Ruins of Arnak

Score the most points by exploring sites, overcoming guardians, building your deck, and researching toward the Lost Temple.

  • The Castles of Burgundy

Score the most victory points by filling your duchy, completing regions, raising livestock, and selling goods.

  • Power Grid

Power the most cities when the game ends. Ties go to the player with the most money left.
